The soil here is always so cool because of the cold nights, that run around 40*F for so long.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773149110503024929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495323991307537519.post-83130154481040589182013-06-09T20:15:04.950-07:002013-06-09T20:15:04.950-07:00Wow, you have been busy! There is still J. L. I completely agree with you about the smaller seedlings needing to be in little envelopes. I had Thompson and Morgan seeds this year and found exactly the same problem.Paula @ Blooms 'n' Spadeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04008810455640357013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495323991307537519.post-20846639471358312822013-06-03T03:17:48.803-07:002013-06-03T03:17:48.803-07:00Yes, I do that too, my Columbines are almost all f...Yes, I do that too, my Columbines are almost all from seed. The latest ones that came up in my vegetable beds were the biggest hulking plants with the most blooms I have ever seen! I think I will have to try to move them this fall.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773149110503024929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495323991307537519.post-9710009195039948282013-06-02T21:12:14.253-07:002013-06-02T21:12:14.253-07:00Wow! I usually just toss columbine seed in the garden and sit back to see who shows up. I also let mine go to seed every year. It's the cheapest way to get new plants. :o)Casa Mariposahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16647089868277238456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495323991307537519.post-83591791095107966212013-06-02T16:11:10.416-07:002013-06-02T16:11:10.416-07:00Sometimes I think I've lost my marbles, it'...Sometimes I think I've lost my marbles, it's one thing to grow them and another thing to get them planted and established. But in spite of the plant failures I've had in the past, the few real successes more than make up for them, so I'm excited to see if there are any new garden stars in this bunch, and it is so much fun to see the little plants come up, I'm addicted. But plant purchases have been major winners in the past, like some of the hardy geraniums. It's definitely harder to grow from seed, but rewarding when it works, like the Primulas last year that are blooming this year, amazingly!Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773149110503024929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495323991307537519.post-73073916276631216842013-06-02T06:33:13.741-07:002013-06-02T06:33:13.741-07:00So many great new plants.
