Veronica officinalis-
This week features Browallia americana, which surprised me with the first flowers on plants I grew this year from seed, sown on May 2. It is exciting when plants I grew from seed succeed, I an interested how much they will bloom-
Larkspur flowers, more open that last week-

What gorgeous blue flowers. Blue is one of my favourite colours.

Thanks, I love blue too, it is not as abundant as the reds, yellows, and oranges.
DeleteVery pretty macros!
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing Hardy Geraniums on lots of blogs. I think I should get some, too. Your Rozanne is very cute - interesting leaves, too.
Have a wonderful week!

Some of my hardy Geraniums bloom well but don't self-sow, but the few that do have really made an impact on my yard. Rozanne seems to be one that doesn't but I haven't had her long.
DeleteYou can't beat blue blooms.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Happy Blue Monday, Hannah!
Thanks for hosting, Sally! It's a fun meme.
DeleteBeautiful blue blossoms!
ReplyDeleteTack, Gunilla!
DeleteYou do not see as many seeds now as years ago. That was all we had and sometimes we saved them from crops. Used them the next year.
ReplyDeleteI went overboard with seeds this year but it ended up cutting too much into my vegetable garden and weeding time, so my yard is a disaster. Ouch. I will have to be more restrained next year, but this year was an experiment, partly in trying to find more plants that will self-sow. The Larkspur, Calendula, and Browallia are perhaps the most successful in blooming, I'll see if they can self-sow. I save my tomato and bean seeds, sometimes cucumbers.
DeleteVery pretty, I love growing from seed.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alison, have you succeeded with Eryngium? Leavenworthii, annual, is growing for me but I didn't get alpinum, perennial, to sprout even.
DeleteHi Hannah, Those blue flowers are amazing and beautiful. I love that the Browallia blooms so quickly from seed. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace. I am pleased so far, they germinated very well, and the flowers are increasing. If they keep up until frost and especially reseed then they will be keepers.
DeleteBeautiful blossoms...blues so brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susie. My camera made some of the blues look a little too purple, Browallia especially is more of a blue.
DeleteBeautiful blue flowers and pictures.
ReplyDeleteGood Tuesday from Marit.
I have some Rozanne hardy Geranium growing wild, but had no clue what they were, thanks for the ID! A nice collection of blue blooms!
ReplyDeleteOops, I was looking at my photo again recently and realized the blue geranium couldn't be Rozanne because the other geraniums in the photo are in another bed. It has to be probably Johnson's Blue. The color is about the same but Rozanne has a bigger white center, and fuller petals. I think Johnson's Blue may reseed. It is an older one in my garden.
DeleteBeautiful! I am just now starting to notice flowers, blooms, and plants. Not too late, just before middle age! LOL! THanks so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWatch out, if the gardening bug gets you it is quite an addiction, but a fun and healthy one!
DeleteYour blue flowers are just lovely ~ in fact all of your flowers on the blog are beautiful! I am now following your blog; I am PNW gardener as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacy, welcome to my blog! Many of the blogs listed on the side in my blog roll are in the PNW too. I am different from most in being more of an edible/vegetable gardener, though I branched out to a lot of ornamentals as well. Also I'm on 2 acres with a lot of weed problems so have a different emphasis than most, and also a lot of native vegetation to enjoy/contend with. I get a lot of inspiration from looking at their gardens, though my interests are somewhat different.
DeleteIt is wonderful when seeds you sow yourself do so well, isn't it? I have a very fine crop of home-sown marigolds right now, and, even though marigolds are far from my favorite flower, I am prouder of them than anything else in my garden right now! I feel like I've invested so much in their lives--sort of like my children, on a much smaller scale, of course!
ReplyDeleteAll of your blues are beautiful. My favorite garden blue this week is my Balloon Flower. Thanks for stopping by my Wildflower Wednesday post today! Always nice to meet new friends.
I went overboard sowing seeds this year, probably I won't repeat that. I sowed some Balloon Flowers but it's one of the later flowers that I didn't get set out early enough so they are kind of in limbo. The fleshy (medicinal) taproot makes them difficult to site. They are a beautiful blue.
