I hope you are not tired of my quilt photos from the local county fair, none of which are mine, because here are a couple more-

A new native wildflower is blooming, Gilia capitata-

The only butterfly I seem to be able to get close to this year, I think a Woodland Skipper, so friendly-

And the caterpillar of a Cinnabar moth-

    1. Thanks, and thanks for hosting! I was surprised to be able to see the little hairs on the caterpillar, they are not that visible to the naked eye.

    1. Thanks, Lonett. I let the tansy ragwort grow so I can host lots of the cute caterpillars. I just wish the Cinnabar moths would stick around to let me photograph them, they are very beautiful but also very shy.

    1. Thanks, Gunilla! I really like their color and stripes. 3 years ago I had enormous numbers of them, but not so many since.

PS - Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting! To answer your question, there is hope for egg-eating chickens. Here are a couple posts you should check out on how to break the egg-eating habit (they explain it better than I could!) -

    1. Thanks for the comments, and the links for bad chickens. I've thought about the egg-rolling nesting box, I will have to see if I can come up with one.

    1. Thanks, I especially like their stripes when they roll up into a donut, and they look like a Halloween confection.

  17. They are so cute, and if disturbed they move their heads back and forth. I had to move them in a really populated year because they would eat all the foliage on the plant and need a new one.

  18. Thank you for your comment. The plant in my macro is Bull Thistle. You mentioned that you had difficulty growing Eryngium. This article might be helpful. http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/CoopExt/4DMG/Flowers/Perenls/seaholly.htm

    1. Thanks for commenting. My Eryngium leavenworthii's are starting to lengthen out so hopefully will bloom before too long, I didn't get any germination from E. 'Blue Lace'. Sometimes it's actually the seed though.

  21. Glad you put a name to the butterfly because while I like them I do not know many of their names. Beautiful shot. And that's a neat quilt design. And the caterpillar - gorgeous!

    1. Thank you, Hazel, my biology subjects tended toward ecology and nomenclature. But I didn't get to study insects so I have to use Google to hopefully ID them.
