The New Year is looming, full of promise like the gorgeous full moon of Christmas. A Christmas full moon occurred last in 1977, when Luke Skywalker was flying across the skies for the first time. We saw him again in 3D, it was great seeing the original crew of the Millineum Falcon together again, older and wiser. Chewie seemed to have hardly aged.

I hope all of you enjoyed some times of celebration with some family members or friends. This is a memento of my Christmas season with my favorite idealized bird, the beautiful Cardinal. This was taken last summer with one from my collection of variegated/striped roses, with some Arctostaphylos uva-ursi berries.

And finally, for my current In a Vase on Monday entry, answering hostess Cathy's challenge to find something in your garden to put in a vase on every Monday of the year, I am featuring some steely blue berries from Viburnum davidii, and a couple of sprigs of the silvery Archangel Lamium. Here with a wood painting by daughter #2 in her homeschooling days, and a little cardinal and silver pine cone.

One of my favorite carols....and 2 lovely vases....I love the blue berries and wish mine were still around....a very festive post with so many wonderful homemade ornaments and decorations...you have such a talented family as well. Lovely to see a bit of your holidays Hannah! Here's to a bright glorious New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna, I love the blue berries, such an unusual berry color.
DeleteHello Hannah, beautiful moon! I love all your pretty Christmas ornaments. The Cardinal is beautiful. I wish you all the best in 2016, Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, enjoy your new week!
Yes, my daughters were both visiting and we came home to see the beautiful moon overhead. I love cardinals, I guess I have a collection.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your Christmas decorations
ReplyDeleteMany blessings in the New Year!
Lea
Thanks, Lea, decorating was rushed this year since I was having company, my #1 daughter's family, to prepare for. I had to take a blogging break.
DeleteGood to see the moon in your post too, Hannah! So intriguing to read about your decorations and their origins and today's vase is appropriately festive too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy, I am always amazed at your dedication, publishing your blog even when visiting your mum!
DeleteSome favorites on your post today. Josh Groban is wonderful, such a beautiful voice. The full moon is always lovely. Have a special week, Hannah.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda, that is my favorite carol, hard to pick an artist on You Tube, there are so many great ones.
DeleteVery nice post, Hannah, thanks for sharing a little bit of your Christmas joys!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anca, now that the deadlines are all over I can just enjoy things for a while.
DeleteLovely moon shot and I do very much like those crocheted ornaments. Those that we or our children make are certainly more meaningful than the store-bought ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dorothy, I do treasure the personal ones more.
DeleteThat moon is magnificent! You got a much better photo than I did. It's lovely to see all your hand-made ornaments. Although I've made some myself in the past, none have involved your degree of creativity. Happy New Year Hannah!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kris, most of those endeavors are in the distant past. The Celtic heart is more recent and actually harder than the crochet, and harder to keep looking good too. It required weaving the yarn in and out and pinning it to keep it in shape. I actually bought my Canon SX50 because I saw a moon shot it had done. Not that it is a perfect camera but good for the price. I was out in the cold bracing it against the swing set, hoping to get it to focus and keep it still at the same time.
DeletePretty rose and I enjoyed seeing all your ornaments. This is such a festive time of year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eliza, I am so happy to still have blooms from one of the surviving striped roses. I couldn't resist setting up the Christmas view.
DeleteGreat shot of the moon, I admired it during the night. Such a pretty arrangement, and a talk through your treasured Christmas Decorations.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Noelle, it was fun to be out photographing the moon while my 2 daughters were together again, talking in the background.
DeleteDearest Hannah; Hello my friend♪ Wow, I was really amazed with "Christmas full moon", wishing to occur in near future for me to take a photo p:-)
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL Christmas Decorations♡♡♡ And I really admire you with your handwork, even crochet♪♪♪ Thank you SO much for sharing your GORGEOUS ornaments.
I really appreciate your kindnesses this year, And hope you'll have a Wonderful Happy coming Year 2016, Dear friend☆☆☆
Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Thanks, dearest Miyako, I haven't made any ornaments for a while but get some from my grandkids. I hope you can get some moon shots in the future. The sliver moon can also be fun to photograph, when nearly gone. Hugs from the PNW, Hannah
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas photos!! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI went through all the episodes these few days.
ReplyDeleteAnd found there are mushrooms in the galaxy.
They too wish you a Happy New Year.

Ever since I got my new camera and can take great shots of the moon, I find it interesting--and quite humbling--that we see different sides with different features. Love your moon shot.
