Rainy Days In a Vase on Monday December 7, 2015

Welcome to my blog, today I am linking with-

I Heart Macro hosted by Laura

Today I am rising to Cathy's In a Vase on Monday challenge to find plant material in my garden, so I went out in the rain to gather a few sprigs of Lonicera nitida and Vinca major variegata, and found a couple of rose hips from Dublin Bay, a beautiful climbing red rose.  I combined them with a flower from one of my indoor Pelargonium geraniums in my favorite color that blooms all year.  I also used my iridescent chicken dish and a vase I made.

The chicken is happy to be in the mystical spotlight-

The geranium is a delightful peach-

But the camera also likes to make it pinker-

It's hard to have flowers blooming outside all year but indoors is easier.  I'm also making up for the fall/winter lull in the garden by planting little seeds under lights, I hope they will start sprouting soon.  Are you planting anything or making plans for next year's garden?   Hannah

  1. Great post Hanna, I love your geranium and also the little chicken. I also enjoyed the Christmas Carol. Those young ladies have sweet voices. Thank you for sharing all, they certainly ended my day very nicely. Have a great week :)

    1. Thanks, Beth, the little geranium is mavelously floriferous and stays fairly small, though the older ones do get slowly taller.

  3. My grandmother had a similar chicken glass dish - seeing it brought a wave of nostalgia! A nice compliment to your pretty arrangement.

    1. Thanks, Anca, I'm jealous of those with beautiful flowers still in their gardens, but it's nice to have houseplants that bloom, regardless of weather.

  6. Hello Hannah, hello chicken. I love the stage setting, and the arrangement is all the richer...sorry no yolk implied! for the fact you have had to look hard and gather some house flowers to include. Watch out for my little but quite different chicken soon!

    1. Thanks, Noelle, your beautiful roses are similar in color to my geranium, so pretty. I found out why chicken coups have two doors- if they had four doors they would be called a chicken sedan.

  8. I planted paperwhites as little gifts for my book club but my timing was off. Guess they will go into my next vase. Your whole vignette is charming.

    1. Thanks, Ricki, I tried to force paperwhites much, but this little vase is actually a bulb-forcing vase.;-)

  9. Dearest Hannah; Oh, GORGEOUS arrangement again, my friend. I LOVE the orange color this post has. Wonderful vase and beautiful pelargonium; your hand made iridescent chicken dish is awesome, I wonder if it is a pottery or glass work :-)
I hope you are having a wonderful week.

    1. Thanks, dearest Miyako, the flower color is a favorite of mine. I even painted my bathroom with that color and cream color, sponged together. The chicken dish is iridescent glass, it has a bowl and a lid. I'm enjoying planting seeds, except that tonight I managed to spill the contents of the little glassine envelope on the floor when I was trying to pour the seeds out, and had to hunt for them, I found most and sowed them. I hope they do well.

  11. I have made a rack for my passion fruit plant.
Once it starts to twin around, I shall expect to have passion fruits soon.

    1. That sounds exciting, Rainfield. I grew passionfruit here but it is cold and it didn't manage to fruit. It did flower a few years.
