Foliage Follow-Up June 2013

Hi, welcome to my Foliage Follow-Up post, click on the link to see more posts on Digging, hosted by Pam.    Here are a few variegated shrubs-

Morus alba 'Paper Dolls' which is very small still after several years and has shown no indication of trying to fruit, but has had some reverted green branches that had to be removed-

Lonicera nitida 'Lemon Beauty', which is more diminutive that the other nitida's.

And the large-leaved large shrub Elaeagnus ebbingei 'Gilt Edge',

Variegated plants have a special appeal to me, I hope you like them too.  -Hannah

  1. I don't usually like eleagnus but 'Gilt Edge' is really pretty. Love the exploding hypericum in the previous post. :o)

  2. Yeah, I love 'Gilt Edge', it is evergreen, has fragrant flowers that waft, doesn't get huge like regular Silverberry, and it makes nice filler in bouquets, as does variegated Phalaris grass.

I was surprised how well the stamens came out on the Hypericum. I was also surprised it was overtaking the Phalaris on my front bank/drive.

  3. These are great! I LOVE the two-tone green in the last one, might be my fave. I have ivy that is similar. Thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my blog! Hope you don't mind me linking you and visiting/commenting on occasion

    1. Thanks, Jennifer, I think Elaeagnus 'Gilt Edge' is a great plant. Your website was interesting to visit. That's great if you want to link/comment. I'm having fun with joining some new blog hops, especially only having to do a few photos.
